--A REMINDER ABOUT THE FILM AND PARTS --
Life at Grandpa's is the story of Nikolas McClatchy, who returns
home to find that the life he had is gone, but in trying to regain
the life he once knew, he finds, through betrayal by his friends and
the help of his quirky family, that if you live your life holding
onto the past, you miss the life you could be living now.
The four main audition groups have been broken down into Nikolas,
Maddie, Grandpa, and Grandma.
NIKOLAS - This is the main character. Nik is a college graduate
who is struggling to escape the memory of what his life used to be.
He is hung up on a girl, and embarrassed by his family. His friends
just don't seem to care as much as they used to, and he is generally
pretty depressed. Think Charlie Brown from the Peanuts if he were 25
years old.
MADDIE - Madeline is the new love interest for Nikolas. She is
the ideal woman for Nikolas: beautiful, smart, funny. She fully
stands behind Nik and what he wants to do with life. She has dreams
of her own, but is scared to act on them, because she is insecure
about her success. She is the kind of girl that could have fun
sitting around the house watching movies, going out for walks, or
going out drinking.
GRANDPA - Grandpa is one of the central figures in the story. He
is young at heart, but is burdened with a life of having to take
care of his sick, ailing wife. He has a very sound grip of reality,
and is able to give hope in the darkest of hours. He is a trickster,
and a cookie enthusiast, but also has his moments of seriousness.
GRANDMA - Grandma is a vital figure, though less of a major
character. She is ill, and the reason Nikolas is at his
Grandparents' house in the first place. She is a character much like
Grandpa, and when she isn't sleeping or babbling, we really get a
good look at this aspect of her personality. She is like a child
inside, but outside, her MS has taken control of her life rather
rapidly.
There are several other supporting characters that will need to
be filled, so we may ask you to do a short scene, or cold read, in
order to get an idea of where you would be best suited. Anyone that
would like to be considered for the middle age characters (younger
than Grandpa and Grandma), please audition with the Maddie/Nikolas
sides.
There is, as a reminder, unfortunately, no pay for this film, but
you will receive a screen credit, as well as food and drinks on set.

Sides are available on the NFG website, as stated above. Please
